Yes, this is a known issue with Windows 7. The Windows 7 task bar has been completely changed by Microsoft, even compared to Vista. When CMUD updates it's taskbar icon, it only updates the small 16x16 pixel icon with the green, yellow, or red status. But in Windows 7, it only displays the larger 32x32 pixel icon and ignores the small icon. If you hover your mouse over the CMUD icon on your Windows 7 taskbar, you will see the correct smaller icon in the upper-left corner of the preview popup.
This probably won't get fixed until I update my development system from Vista to Windows 7 later next year, sorry. |

Yes, I think we can assume it was sorted out for Windows 7 as of CMUD v3.13 (although perhaps not quite in the way you were expecting, the way it looks is described here). I'm not sure about the situation right now on Windows 10, but I have tested it on Windows 11 and put an update on this issue here as it is not working as expected. |
