error processing the help update |
hello. just installed cmud on a fresh system. while updating the help files i got the follwoing eror message:
there was an error processing the help update:
File <unknown> Line: 1 Col:1 Error: Invalid XML character found
maybe it has something to do with the missing tutorials? i know this is still empty, but before at least 'tutorials' was shown in the help overview (was the last item shown in the list)
good night, bye, kai |

Not happening for me. Tried a fresh install? The help database is kept in the install directory so there's no need to destroy your data too.

Well, if it's working for everyone except you, and it's even working on one of your computers but not the other, then it's a problem with your computer. I'm sure Zugg will know more.

now i fixed the problem :-) i just had to deactivate norton internet security 2006 for some minutes..then downloading help topics again, and this time no problem.... :-?
but maybe my experience could be useful for zugg nevertheless. e.g. i didn't have problems updating the packages and i did let Norton allow cmud.exe to access the web
thanks for help, fang,
cu, bye |

Sounds like a problem with the error detection in the help window if the network connection fails. It's probably returning some sort of error message instead of the expected XML data, and then CMUD tries to parse the error message as XML and gives the error. My guess is that Norton is trying to generate some "nice" message about not being able to access the site, rather than just returning a normal HTTP error code.
