A path in the forest
The forest path winds to the east and west here. The gray trunks of the
surrounding trees stand silent, the only noise you hear is the sound of the
river churning madly. The trunks and leaves remain wet to the touch,
continually moistened by the mist from the river.

[A path in the forest] [NESW] 4:30pm [Day Time] [Elvish] [Defensive]>
Deep in the forest
As you enter this section of the forest, you notice blood stains on a
nearby tree. By the looks of it the battle was fairly recent as the blood is
not yet dried. A trail of marked trees continues off to the north,
presumably the direction the person or thing fled.

A path in the forest
The path continues off to the east and west here, winding around the
trees that block its progression. Smells of decay are strong here as is the
presence of mold. Trees stand silently all around you, their quiet visage
seemingly aware of your movements. Shadows dart back and forth among the
trees as the wind causes the branches to shake a little bit.

[A path in the forest] [NESW] 4:30pm [Day Time] [Elvish] [Defensive]>
Deep in the forest
Your feet softly pass over the wet, decomposing leaves, soundless, almost
alone. Gray trunks rise up to greet you in sad repose. The sounds of the
forest can be heard faintly: a river even forest animals. Yet the sounds of
nature are overshadowed by a piercing scream off to the north.

Deep in the forest
Unlike the rest of the forest, the trees here are scarred with pock
marks. Some of the marks in the trees look fresh, as you notice the wet,
moist wood. A scream can be heard off to the north-east, as another
combatant falls victim.

Deep in the forest
A figure, tattered and bloody, crawls up to you on his hands and knees.
As he looks up at you with a child's face, blood drips from his mouth as his
limbs grow stiff, death taking him. He looks no older than 13. A puncture
wound in his back has bled the boy to death.

The corpse of a fallen victim leans against a tree, a single arrow shaft

the poor victim. His hands still clutch his spear, his fingers blue and
rigid around the shaft.

Beneath a forest city
Up, in the higher branches of the surrounding trees, rope bridges have
been constructed to support planks of wood that connect the trees in a
forested city. Figures dressed in all black walk the bridges back and
forth, causing them to sway.

The city above you teems with life and activity as people scramble about
in a near panic to get from one place to the next. Everyone is clad in
black in the elevated city allowing them great camouflage in the darkness of
the forest canopy.

The tree building above you is alive with movement as child and women are
herded into it. The children cry as they are told forcefully to stay put.
Soldiers and scouts begin to descend into the forest, and when they are
gone, the children and women are allowed to move about the surface of the
city.

The small rope bridges from the outer points in the city seem to all
originate here. Assuming this, you realize that you must be in the center
of this small forest city. The soft forest breeze continues to blow from
the east, causing the leaves to fall in a rain of colors.

cooking still fill the air, a meal seemingly ruined by the untimely fog.

The shadows above offer no assistance as you glance around the area to
look at your surroundings. The omnipresent fog rises and falls in a
relaxing pace as the giant trees stand tall and strong, their canopy solid
and clouded in shadow.

Beneath a forest city
The soft bridges above sway gently in the eastern breeze as the sounds of
conversation drift down to greet you. The massive amount of fog seems to
continue relentlessly, showing no signs of stopping. A single leaf glides
from the canopy and lands gracefully on your shoulder.

Deep in the forest
Off to the north, all you can see is more fog rolling down and towards
you, while off to the south, west and east all you can see is a mass of
slate gray trunks. The forest remains calm and near silent, the only sounds
being those of the forest animals as they wander around.

Deep in the forest
The gentle fog from the north continues to blanket the ground in sweet
softness as leaves from above disappear into it as they fall. The river to
the far east can be heard faintly, as can the sounds of battle to the south.

Fog continues to pour from the northern mountains, the gray blanket of

source does nothing except reflect off the cool mist offering you no help
whatsoever.

Deep in the forest
The soft gray fog has replaced the dark canopy and the soft forest floor
with a disorienting emptiness. Due to the encompassing fog the area around
you has become very hard to discern, as you find yourself wondering which
direction you are facing. It seems there are exits in every cardinal
direction.

Timer now at 41 secs.

Here are the triggers:
Code:

ID: gaglog1
Pattern: (?:\[Quiet\] )?<\d+/\d+hp \d+/\d+m \d+/\d+mv \d+tnl \d+(?:pq|qp) \d+/\d+w \d+g/\d+s |
Value: #GAGLOG

ID: gaglog2
Pattern: \[(?:[\w ]+)\] \[(?:[\w-]+)\] (\d+:\d+(?:am|pm)) \[[\w ]+\] \[[\w ]+\] (?:\[\w+\])?>
Value:
#GAGLOG
#WRITELOG " "
#WRITELOG > %1
#WRITELOG " "

Is this something other people are noticing? It's odd that it's gagging everything.

The pattern for one of your triggers ends with a pipe. This creates an alternation matches all lines.
Pattern: (?:[Quiet] )?<\d+/\d+hp \d+/\d+m \d+/\d+mv \d+tnl \d+(?:pq|qp) \d+/\d+w \d+g/\d+s |

So cool, I got it working and feel a lot better that I understand the syntax and what's going on which has allowed me to adjust it some. But now I've run into a conceptual stumbling block that I'm hoping someone else might be able to visualize better:

I have the prompt gagged among some other things, everything seems to be working properly. The problem is that when people wait between acting or saying things, I often get my prompt for other reasons that aren't seen in the log, a tick passing or whatever. So I get:

Quote:

You say 'Efn ets tha' turtle thing.'

> 10:30am

You sigh.

> 10:30am

> 11:00am

> 11:00am

Gilyn goes AFK.

> 11:00am

Verdemar gets a piceous shield bearing an eagle from a Robe of Many Pockets.

> 11:00am

Teirnan says 'Corporal MacLeod, fetch some shields.'

As you can see, the multiple > time, can be quite annoying and I'll have to clean that out of the log. I want to put in a further feature that will let me toggle on/off whether or not hp and mana are shown after the gag, but before that I'd really like to figure out a method to ensure that I don't have the writelog spamming the same thing. I'm trying to figure out if there's any way to make it so that it only displays the prompt directly after someone does something. Any ideas?

It'll probably be easier to exclude the prompts you don't want, rather than exclude by default and try to write something that triggers off "someone doing something", which is clearly a mountainous task. Why are those extra prompts appearing?

From ticks, mostly.

Quote:

TICK IN 5 SECONDS.

TICK IN 5 SECONDS.

<1699/1699hp 1106/1106m 456/456mv 1001cp 4453pq 280/567w 920g/3277s
[Cliath's Shrine Room] [EW] 1:00pm [Day Time] [Common]>
TICK IN 5 SECONDS.

<1699/1699hp 1106/1106m 456/456mv 1001cp 4453pq 280/567w 920g/3277s
[Cliath's Shrine Room] [EW] 1:30pm [Day Time] [Common]>

Is what it appears like in game, which is needed for the tick timer to work. However, in the log it merely creates spam.

So use a multistate trigger to only gaglog those prompts that follow a TICK IN 5 SECONDS message.

Well, I gag all the prompts. I simply don't want to write log when it follows a TICK IN 5 SECONDS or a TIMER SET AT 41 SECONDS message.

You could just turn that tick inform off too.

I use the tick inform for other triggers Razz It's just ugly in a log. I'm sure I can ignore it with multi state triggers but I've had difficulty working with multi state triggers.

I can't seem to find the new state option... so I would have the new state fire only when it says "Tick in 5 seconds" ?

A different solution might be, and I don't know how it would show in the logfile, but set the tick timer to an alias, have the alias use CMUD's new nifty fire command to fire off of your old tick message, and just set the timeout margin to 5 seconds. Seems to work for me at least, but my logging is seemingly broken so I can't check that.

Well, it's not that message that's the problem. That message predicts when the MUD will send a line feed on the tick, which prompts the prompt. I need that prompt for my tick timer to work. But I'd rather not have it in the log.
