Importing Maps |
Is there a way to create maps for cMud (and zMud for that matter) from room data. Let's say I wanted to make a tab delimited text file (or something like that) available to all of our players that includes all the rooms in the game with room number, exits, area names, and room coordinates (x, y, and z).
We already have all this data available and make online maps from that data. (www.achaea.com/maps.php) It would be nice if people could automatically update their cMud Maps with that data. |

The short answer is no. There is no such feature out of the box. The long answer is yes, CMUD (and zMUD) provide you the scripting facilities to do exactly that, especially when incorporated with zMapper.
I'd actually started writing an automatic parser for Imperian imap data (and if real life allows I will eventually finish it.) |

I'm guessing the map data for the built in IRE maps is in a similar format to whytes mapper. I asked this question once before, regarding imap data, that is. The answer was yes, it would be possible with some scripting effort. I suspect its beyond *me*, though with trial-and-error and help from the more competent people on this forum I figured I might manage it someday.
I think the next step for you is to post a sample of the file here for people to look at. Just a handful of rooms to start with, I'd say. |

That sounds like an interesting project.
