CMud - imported packages difficulties |
OK, there are probably posts here relating to this, but after browsing a while, I haven't seen anything relating to my specific problem.
I just installed CMud... been a zMud user for quite some time, and I'm quite adept at scripting, so I have a vast assortment of scripts I wanted to import across.
Once I got CMud running, I imported a .MUD file from my zMud installation, noticed it was the wrong one, attempted to delete it in the settings editor -> crash. Submitted the report, tried multiple approaches to get rid of it, to no avail. Uninstalled CMud... reinstalled, it's still there. I can't seem to figure out how to remove an imported .MUD package from the settings editor. "Delete Setting" rather quickly crashes the program, and there are now several "ghost" folders in the Settings Editor that evoke an instant Address Violation crash if I click on them.
Considering I've had CMud installed for 10 minutes and have managed to crash it a dozen times now, I can't say I'm all that impressed... but I'm holding out hope that it'll get fixed. Sorry to say I can't really see myself buying until it's a bit more stable.
Zugg, I know you'll figure it out, and I've enjoyed using zMud. I look forward to seeing CMud stabilize. |

Actually, i read that before AND after my troubles... but nothing really addressed the issue I was having. I imported the wrong .MUD file and I wanted ot remove it entirely. Intuitively I believed that "Delete Setting" on the "whatever.MUD" node would remove that entire tree... which crashed me. I completely uninstalled and wiped the folder and reinstalled cleanly, but now I've come upon an other crash... but that one doesn't need a thread, I imagine Zugg will catch it form my bugreport.

Ah I see what you mean.
I think you can edit the session (vs open it) and on the file tab select or deselect the packages. I do not have {C|z}MUD in front me though. |

A couple of things that I hope will help. When you import a .MUD CMUD creates a copy of the converted package, so it may help (if you haven't done so) to delete the folder you installed into. Another point to consider is that while CMUD strives for maximum import compatibility it's not 100%. Sending you .MUD file to Zugg can help improve the import process, he has addressed several issues this way. If there were issues with the import, then unfortunately crashes will be more frequent because the new settings editor uses a database (which is referenced in memory) so poor import can cause additional difficulties.
Finally, to evaluate the merits you can try to manually add you triggers, alias et al to CMUD. It may take a bit longer, but it will be an opportunity to further explore the many merits of CMUD. |

How do you go about importing a .MUD file?
Can't seem to find this in the help files. |

Edit your session and where it asks for a pkg file point it to your mud file. Open your session now and it imports everything from your mud file. When you close your session and reopen it you will have a nice pkg file. You mud file is as far as I have noticed anyway untouched by this conversion. If you edit your session again and look at the pkg tab your .mud file has been replaced by the newly created .pkg file.
