[1.08] Child Windows

Is it possible to add the roll out affect like the three windows on the right edge of the screen? (Settings, Referance, and Status Window)

I would so like to be able to have a window roll itself out whenever a new message gets sent to it, stay open for 10-30 seconds, then collapse itself back away.

afaik it's not possible atm, but I remember seeing a thread somewhere in the earliest releases where Zugg said it'd be something to add in later. I think it'd be a great addition too. Either the roll out, or a fade in (think Outlook 2003 new messages)

It's possible right now. What we talked about (and I don't think is implemented yet is to script it, i.e. have it fly out when you receive text). But right now you can have any child window flyout like the status window. You dock the window either to the left or right of the screen (not tabbed), then you click on the push-pin icon in the upper right hand corner. The window will then become a flyout window.

It flies out when you receive text. The trick is that you have to send focus to that window, and the only way to do that currently is via the windowname:stuff syntax. Of course, as far as I know it doesn't fade/fly back after a set time given that focus is stuck there.

I seem to recall that #WINDOW sent focus to the child window, but I guess I'm remembering that wrong or it got changed in CMud, but I know that :windowname: doesn't cause flyout either.

Oh, and there's a neat little disappearing-window bug somewhere in there I just ran into.
