I am quite a "safe" user of Zmud. I have used it for 9 or so years now I think. Upgrading as each update comes in. Then........... I get others to send me their triggers and i change them to suit my item numbers and stuff. Because I am just incapable of setting them up myself.

Anyway, these past couple of days, my simple, #beep 4 trigger, has stopped working, and my sound on Zmud (only Zmud) has stopped.

Has anyone heard of this? Has one of my kids messed up Zmud by deleting something else? Any help or advice (not in computer tech terms) would be very much appreciated.

Go into the Sound Preferences page and make sure the sound option is enabled. Also try rebooting Windows to reset your sound card, and check the obvious stuff like the volume.

Ok, I have tried the preferences and sound, thank you for that help, but, it didnt work. There was nothing to change.

I did however go into the main ZMUD folder for the MUD I play, and the Sounds directory in there was empty. I am guessing tho that this is actually normal, because the MUDs that I play all have empty or no sound files.

I also had previously checked my sound card, because ALL other sounds, except ZMUD works.

p.s even the sound once you have QUIT the MUDs work, its just the #BEEP in the game.

You said you did "#BEEP 4"? Have you tried just "#BEEP"? Putting the number after the beep tells Windows to play a particular Windows error sound. Go into the Sound Control Panel for Windows and you will see that there are several wav files assigned to various system events. Make sure you still have a wav file assigned to all of your system sounds.

Also, you can try the #PLAY command in zMUD to play a wav file directly. If #PLAY works and #BEEP doesn't then something is definitely messed up with your Windows system sounds settings, and I can't help much with that.

If #PLAY doesn't work either, then run zMUD and while zMUD is running, try using some other program to play sound, like WinAmp or something. zMUD messes with the global volume settings so also check the volume settings for your sound card while zMUD is running.

I rooted through Zmud and found (sorta) the problem. For some reason, my sounds where all messed up. (IN the preferences file you mentioned). So I just altered them all to suit (although they are different).
