I use alt + keypad macros in a MUD to strike different target areas; for example alt + NUM8 to hit the head, etc.

The problem is that when using combinations of these, or repeating them a few times, although they work, the Unicode for symbols cuts in.

So I'll end up with weird symbols and numbers in my command prompt, in unispace fonts, and to top it off - it acts as if I've used the INS key and messes around with what I type afterwards.

Is there a way of disabling the Unicode symbol shortcuts, either

- in zMUD (overriding macros doesn't work - the macros work but Unicode still happens)

- or in Windows altogether.

This is a really big problem, so I'd be very grateful for any assistance.

the easy way would be to release alt after each one, in my experiance you only get the special characters after a sequence of 4 numbers (in a row) with the alt key still depressed

I need to be able to use combinations quickly though, and that would slow me down somewhat. Is there any way of disabling the unicode combinations?

No. That functionality is part of the operating system not part of the program you are using.

And in the operating system, it can't be turned off?

No. You should use a different combination of keys.
