Annoying problem with windows |
Hi,
I use a separate window for various tells, and i've had this annoying problem with it for months and months now.
Everytime I enter zMud, the window does not display correctly. It is always 'internal' instead of being floating above the main window. When I move it, it does generally go to its right position/size. But then it won't stay On Top even though the 'on top' button is selected. I have to reselect it again to get it to stay.
I tampered with #MAKEWINDOW Trying to get this to work. no luck. This window i'm using now and having the same trouble with is simply a window made with #WINDOW command and edited to my liking.
This has been bugging me for months, if someone could help with this I would be grateful |

I tried what I saw in another thread, which was to click the window, then go to alias, and file->save.. I saved it as tells.mud and then tried it again saving it with my current mud file, but neither fixed it.
Is there another way? |

Stay on top is bugged. Try undocking your main window too.
CMUD will save the day, can't wait |

Sorry to hear that :(
Is the issue with the window becoming 'internal' (docked) everytime I start zMud also a known bug? |

Set things as you want them. Do a specific save in each window. Then do a save of the layout. This should set things as you want them. I used to do this and it worked ok though sometimes the chat redirect window didn't open up until chat was received sometimes it opened straight away.
Alternatively lets face it that window is set to stay on top and you want it to be there most if not all of the time, therefore you could do what I did and give up fighting the oddness of the window system and have both windows docked with the chat up the top taking up about 5 or 6 lines. |

Well I gave it a try but no change. I'm not sure if i'm doing it right though.
I clicked in my tells window and then went to aliases and saved.. then clicked my main mud window and did the same. Is that correct?
If so, any other suggestions on what I can to fix this? It's still docking the tells window on start of zMud. |

Yep thats correct, with both undocked. Then after doing that go to the Layout menu and choose "Save Layout..." that should do it. If it doesn't then either give up and do what I said in the previous message or wait for CMUD.
<edit>
Oh I think layout files prefer to be saved in the zMUD directory rather than in the directory of the mud files.

Finally got it to work. Thanks Taz!
Actually, it's working even better than I hoped.. even the 'on top' button on the window is working normally upon startup :) |
