A newb, with a newb question.

I downloaded zMUD and all, and it just wont connect to the MUD i'm trying to play. I'm sorry if this question has been asked so many times that it hurts, but I have no idea what to do with it.

Actually it is a very rare question. Mind posting the address of the mud and its port.

Yeah. the game is Dark and Shattered Lands (DSL), the host is dsl.nxs.net, and the port is 4000
zMUD also does the same thing with other MUDs though

Try doing a direct telnet to the MUD, if you can't connect then the problem is something else.

If you can connect then go to properties for your MUD and do an IP look up. Also make sure that you don't have anything else blocking the zMud application.

I can play the MUD on it's respective site, but zMUD just wont connect to anything. The reason why I want to use zMUD is because of several inconviniences with the MUD, like not seeing what I type, no color, etc...

It seems the correct host and port for that mud is dsl-mud.org 4000. That should work assuming you have no firewall problems, and the port is not blocked by a router or such.

Did you try the telnet test? It may give you a bit more insight than you can accessing from the mud's website.
