Mapper does not open new doors

When moving into a new room, I add any door (with #DOOR <dir>) to the exits of the room. When I try to go in the direction of a door that has just been created, and does not have a room attached to that exit yet, the mapper does not issue the "open <dir>" command.

In order to get it to issue the command, I must open the door myself, move into the new room, move back to the old room (in which it does not issue the open command either!), then it will issue the command at any future time.

Is there some command I need to perform to enable the mapper to issue the open command on a one-way link?

Open the mapper... go to Config --> Configuration Settings... In the Map Preferences select on the Strings and Doors option... you can then specify the commands to send when you open the door and open a locked door.

That should do the trick.
