important, please help |
I am unfortunately fairly computer illiterate, and am having difficulty running zMUD. I use windows 98, and the version of zMUD is the latest one available on the site, 7.13a. Installation went perfectly, but upon attempting to run it I get the following error.
This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down.

Note: No splash screen appears. I have read through the forums, and the general consensus seems to be that it has something to do with a registry error. Unfortunately, the sticky post covering precisely this problem does not go into detail regarding what someone running Windows 98 should do to get around this problem. [edit the registry, so on, so forth.]
I would be MUCH OBLIGED if someone could provide me with assistance for my problem, as I intend to purchase the program once I get it running, and am eager to put it to good use. |

postscript, [hours later]
downloaded MDAC 2.8 and JET 4.0, setup and installed. My high expectations were dashed, as none of my problems were fixed. Incidentally, the older, free version of zMUD works well on my system, so I expect that it has -something- to do with a change that was made between the versions.
Thanks, in advance, for any help that can be given. |
