You need to post a *lot* more information about what you were doing in zMUD when you get this error for anyone to help. Were you opening a character? Were you closing a window? Were you running triggers on your MUD? What? The "Access Violation" error in Windows is a generic error message that doesn't tell us anything.
Also, you MUST ALWAYS report what version of zMUD you are using AND what version of Windows you are using.
If you continue to post vague messages without this information, they will just get deleted from the forum. |

for the 00000000 error thing, i was trying to close it by ctrl-alt-del / 'end program', because it gave me the 1st message
the 1st message came up with the 00000008 then i had to do the first thing |

When you get an access violation when closing a window or program, that means that something happened during the running of the program that messed up memory. With zMUD this usually indicates a corrupted settings file. You should follow the instructions given in the Migration Guide in the Support/zMUD Support section of the web site where it talks about fixing corrupted settings.
If it continues to give an error, then you might have a bad trigger running in the background. Turn off all triggers and turn them back on one by one to determine which trigger is causing the problem.
You can also try installing a fresh copy of zMUD to a new directory on your computer and then import your previous settings. That will ensure you don't have any corrupted files in your zMUD directory. If you ever used version 7.12 then it's very possible you have a corrupted file.
Also, you should never use Ctrl-Alt-Del to close a program normally. This bypasses most programs ability to save data, so it's easy to lose data when using this method. To quit zMUD you should click the Quit button in the upper-right corner, or select Exit from the File menu, or click the X button in the upper-right corner of the zMUD window.
Finally, once you get *any* access violation it means that the memory is messed up for that application. If you just click OK, you will likely get many more error messages. Don't bother reporting any access violations that you get after the first one. It's the first error that matters. |
