Importing Zones from .mdb files |
I'm using the mapping module that comes with zMud. What happened was I mapped out two different areas in two separate .mdb files, thinking that they are unlinked areas, only to realise that they are actually connected. I've been trying to bring both zones into a single mdb file, so that I can link them up, but I can't seem to be able to import zones from one into another.
I've tried the import function under Zone --> Import Zone..., but that doesn't work (I suspect because it is only meant to import from .map files). The converter comes on, and basically hangs my computer without anything done.
I think I've scanned the forum quite thoroughly, but can't seem to find any answer. Am I missing something, doing something wrong, or is it just not possible?
TIA! |

I think there is a Zone Copy utility over in the Finished Scripts forum. And yes, the Import Zone in the mapper is for the old *.map files.
Merging zones like that might be tricky though. The room ObjID key values need to be unique for every room within a map. It's likely that you'll need to renumber the rooms in one of the zones somehow. And then you'd need to change all of the room numbers in the Link table for all of the room exits. I'm not sure if the Zone Copy utility does this, but maybe someone else can post about it. But that's why zMUD doesn't have its own Import or Merge functions...it's actually very tricky.
zMapper allows you to export a zone to a text file, and then import this text file, so it might be possible to do it with that and then edit the text file before importing it back into zMapper. |

Thanks tons Zugg!
Couldn't find the Zone Copy script in the Finished Scripts, but I think I'll simply remap the place. Seems too tricky to do manually, might as well map it out and get it right. |

Since I dont feel like searching the forums for the link (Zugg Should really add these files to Plugins DL page Along with the HTML logging plugin)
Charbal's ZoneCopy Utility can be found here
http://sintal.no-ip.org/files/ZoneCopy.exe
Remember to always make a backup of your data before you use any 3rd Party Utilities. |

Cannot execute it on XP sp2 :(
Reports error: "Component "COMDLG32.OCX" or one of its dependencies not correcty registered: a file missing or invalid"
There is no comdlg32.ocx file in xpsp2, just comdlg32.dll
Do anybody know any workaround ?
Thanks in advance. |
