Issue with proxy server |
Hi everyone.
I'm behind a highly restrictive university firewall behind which all outgoing communications must be routed through a proxy server. Problem is, the typical way in which this is done - i.e., for typical webbrowsing - is through an automatic proxy configuration script. Both Firefox (which I use) and IE support this, although from what I can tell ZMud does not.
But fear not, I thought - although the highly ornery computer staff here do absolutely nothing to help with anything, they do provide the address for a more typical HTTP proxy server, port number included. I thought that this would work fine with the provided ZMud web proxy configuration box, but so far as I can tell, it doesn't. Now, oddly enough, I did notice that there wasn't actually a check-box next to the option for the http proxy, so I was wondering (given that I know I can get the http proxy to work, no configuration script required, with other applications) if anyone could tell me if there's a glitch somewhere, somebody forgot to put that check-box in, if I can change the setting somewhere else. Or, if someone else has had similar problems and can share, or, of course, any other insights.
Thanks much. |

Much as I hate to do a 'Me Too' post I thought I should state you're not the only one with this exact problem of using an http proxy. Ahhh, the trials of trying to mud from work!

Haha, no problem. The more I tool around with it, the more I really feel like it simply isn't querying the proxy server properly at all. I don't know that, of course...just a feeling. I almost found a way around it, but the proggie only works if the HTTP proxy supports SSL, which mine apparently does not. Big surprise there, of course (anything to keep us students down...hmmm).
