ZMud Crashing

I have posted about this before. but I as of yet have not found a reason for this happening or a fix for it. Zugg himself has requested me running windows updates ..updating my mdac and Jet. as well as several otehr options but I still come to the same conclusion. after talking to a teq suport guy on another forum. He had told me that appcompat.txt has something to do with hte windows compatibility mode.and it seems that zMud doesnt run with my verison of XP ..how is this? and can anyone help me fix this problem? as zMud will not even load because of it. I REALLY dont want to reinstall WIndows XP over again. aside from it not being able to happen due to SP2 being installed.

btw im running on Windows XP Service pack 2.

Thanks in advance

Why don't you try searching for this file "appcompat.txt" on your system. Then post a list of all found and the contents of those that might possibly be relevant. I ran such a search on my system, but did not find any matching files that I could possibly use as a reference. Furthermore I tried to simulate this problem on my system and could not readily.

This seems to be a good reference point for solving this problem:
http://reviews.cnet.com/5208-6121-0.html?forumID=45&threadID=48611&messageID=730697

This thread also contains some possibly useful information:
http://www.ntcompatible.com/thread25498-1.html

Doing a general google search on "appcompat.txt" yeilded 917 results, many were more about the data file itself than the actual causes of such crashes, some like those referenced above pointed to a few specific things that interfere with other programs proper functioning. zMud is tested to work with XP and so far you are the only user to report this type of crash out of thousands. I would suspect that, as the threads I referenced above suggest, some other program is at fault. The appcompat.txt that is generated may help to determine what class of other programs within your system is causing the problem, but this same goal could likely be acheived by closely watching what zMud is doing at the time of the crash. Beyond this I do not think anyone here can be of any help, but we will continue to try as you provide new information.
