Proxy

I was wondering, is there anyway to use the "proxy servers" to mask your ip to a mud?

This is called tunnelling. In general the way to do this is have a shell account that you would then send an appropiate telnet command to. There just aren't many proxies that support telnet because of the dedicated channel required. A thread just a month or so back suggested one place to easily setup the needed shell account.

I just came to the forums to search for this exact thing. I already have my account set up, but instead of tunneling I have to be a little more stealth and use dynamic link forwarding. Anyway, that's detering from my question: Where's the feature in zMUD to connect through a proxy? I don't see it! :(

Nevermind, I found the option. It's in View > Preferences > General tab under Connection for those who want it.

Anyway, I am having the trouble of the settings being saved for all my .mud files. So no matter which character I connect with to the mud they're all using the proxy, when really I only want a handful to be able to do this. Is there a way to set that up prefernce files so only some will use the proxy when connection to the same mud and others will use direct connection?

The proxy preference you mentioned is a global preference. I do not know of anyway to change it on a per mud or character basis.
