Mapper on a MUCK: Current position lost |
When using zmud on a muck, there are certain rooms where the position icon will suddenly stop keeping track of where I am. If I set the new position manually, I can continue, but if I go back to that same room, the position stops again. This really screws up speed walking because I might go from one spot to another and arive there, but on the map, it shows my position dot on that broke room.
I have examined this room and its links, and I can find nothing different about them from any other room or exit.
There are multiple places on the map that do this as well.
I even dug through the spreadsheet view, and could not figure it out. |

The most common problem with mapping is failing to recogonize the prompt 100% of the time Mud output in these kind of situations is VITAL!
In map mode goto the room that is giving you problems and type #LOOK
if that doesn't fix it then repost with mud output from rooms that work and don't work as you walk between them. |

There actually is no prompt on a MUCK. I gave up on the automapper a while ago, it doesn't like how random the MUCK room descriptions are. I created this map manually, so it is not a problem with figuring out the automapper.
For whatever reason, it simply stops 'following' my progress when using the map. |

Since it is a specific room in your map, there is a problem with the information you supplied to that room. Since you have provided no further information to me, I can provide no further help to you.
In somewhat kinder words...Please give us details about the room information and actual mud output. Also provide any triggers you created to handle overriding the mapper's normal operations. |

Even without a traditional mud prompt there are ways. With a little bit of mud output usually all of your problems can be fixed.

The rooms I have on the map do not contain any room descs, and most do not even have the room name. I purely use directional information to move around. The automapper could not figure out how to automatically grab the rooms, as they differed enough to confuse it. I ended up manually mapping the place out myself with the boxes and lines.
There is no difference between a room that works and a room that does not allow the dot to pass. |

Well you need a way to tell the mapper you moved so #OK and/or #STEP are what you need to work with And I have yet to come across a MU* that I can not get the mapper configured for

I think the random borders are really tripping it up. |

That didn't seem to help the automapper wizard. It looks at the room, and gets confused as to what is what.

Actually that should help you keep the position uptodate on what you have its gonna be a few days prolly before I have time to go through with true auto mapper settings.
