Mapper Problem, MUD specific |
I play on a MUD named The Shadow Wars (shadowwars.org:4000) and am completely unable to get the automapper's automatic configuration to correctly pick up the room name or the room description. Part of the problem is a > that appears on the line following the prompt and cannot be removed through the prompt configuration in the game. Further confusing matters are a lack of a message stating "You walk x."
I've tried #TAGging the prompt and the exit line, but it's had no effect in being able to get the mapper configured.
Can one of the gurus or anyone else knowledgable in the automapper take a look a the game and give me some suggestions? I don't mind in the slightest trying to work it out myself if someone can point me in a direction that actually records some output. |

Ok I logged into your mud and only had to make one change to get the mapper to follow correctly in speed walking
First you better be using Zmud 7.05 as this version has MANY great advances in mapping speed and reliablity
Second > IS your prompt
DELETE any and all tag triggers you might have
Do an AUTOCONFIGURE of the mapper and check all three options
you shuold get a visual confirm that the mapper correctly found everything.
When that is done open Mapper-Config-configuration settings-config-roomname and check these options
Room Name, Name para 1, name start line 0, and match room name at end of line everything else should be unchecked and this made the mapper work for me also when mapping MAP SLOW.
Mapping takes more processing time then reg explore mode and you don't wanna spam toomuch/the wrong info.
Those are the steps I took to get Zmuds mapper working for your mud |

I tried the suggestions you made right after your post and couldn't get them to work, so I gave up on mapping for a while. Since then, my character has managed to gain a considerable number of levels and I'm getting rather bored of leveling and would like to do some mapping when I'm not in rp. However, I still can't get the mapper to work correctly.
Using the configuration you have listed above, zMUD does not pick up the room names correctly. I either get the first line of the room description, the last line of the room description, or the exits line. I have tried this with the default prompt and with a more complex one that includes exits in the prompt.
If you have gotten your zMUD configured to capture things accurately, please email me the configuartion file at troublemag at hotmail dot com.
Thanks for your help in saving my sanity. |
