how do I get an alias to repeat itself?

I am new at doing anything more than basic triggers with Zmud, I currently have a trigger that updates a variable and then runs an alias. The alias contains an if statement to check the variable and determine whether to run or not. I want to setup this alias to run until it determines not to based on the variable. The default of the variable is 0. I want the alias to run a specific command if the variable is 0. I want it to wait a couple seconds and then run again until the variable changes to 1. Everything works except getting the alias to repeat...any help is appreciated.

This is not a good idea. Repetitive actions should usually be done using the #ALARM command. By giving the alarm an ID your trigger(s) can even control it directly, using the #T+ and #T- commands, without needing a variable.

#ALARM *2 {#IF (@run = 0) {do something}}
#ALARM alarm1 *2 {do something}
