LineBreak in paths

I use paths and reduce the mud output to an prompt >.
Still I have the scrolling of >'s because each one is in a new line.
Can anybody tell me, how to avoid this?

1)don't speedwalk?
2)use #gag?
3, might not work)turn off command echo?

There's no way to turn off that behavior without also writing up a custom speed-walking module of your own. This is because a path is a shortcut for multiple commands. To be more clear, .3n is the same as n;n;n and both will be processed so that they become
