Bug Found in 6.40 |
While stating a character on a mud I had gotten bad stats(you need to get to levle 5 befor you know what your stats are on this mud). Well since I had gotten bad stats I just typed QUIT within the mud. For somereason ZMUD iterprited this as my not wanting to play that MUD ever again. After words I had trouble creating new characters on that mud... everytime I would try to connect Zmud would instantly disconnect me. As an added bonus I was unable to access the website for the MUD... it was like ZMUD took over my system and said NO you cant go to that address at all.
The only remedy I had found was to detele all of the character I had already created on that mud. This perturbed me a little since it was 8 characters and I had to go through and reenter all of the aliases and macros for those characters.
Is this something that is wrong with ZMUD and needs to be fixed or do I just need to change a preferance somewhere?

Never thought I'd see another Tabaraka (from WoTMUD, I presume?) post here :P
Since everything you've described seems to indicate WoTMUD, I can tell you that WoTMUD will disconnect you if you press enter at the logon screen without entering a name. So it's possible that when zMUD prompted for auto-logon details for the character, you said for it to save them but had nothing in the fields.
Then when you connected it would try and send a blank character name and end up disconnecting you.
To fix this, the best thing to do is open the character in offline mode and click the aliases button. Look for the Autolog class and delete anything in it (note: you may need to select Show Inherited from the View menu).
As for not being able to get to the website, I have no idea... zMUD shouldn't cause anything like that. Were you able to access it by IP address (12.14.84.254)?

Also, you should know that when you delete a character, it's settings file (which contains the aliases, triggers, macros, etc.) is not deleted. You just need to create the character again, edit it's properties and change the primary settings file in the Files tab to point to the one you had before.

Hehe, Heya Chabal... yeah from WOT... My old Char's name is Carlina (she was in the tower... I can't even recall my old chars family although I liked the last name and since Canian was a name I had made up and the last name seemed to fit so I've been using as my online name for a while now.
Anyway Thanks for the info I'll try that.
