Maping Headache |
So I've decided to start mucking about with the automapper. I've found some issues which are making my life hard and I wondered if anyone knows how to solve them.
Primarily the issue is one way exits, particularly those which are non-linear.
Example.... I am in room #1 room one has an exit UP to room #2. room #2 has an exit down to room #3. Room #3 has a exit up to room #1
I know how to consolodate rooms in a given plane, but over several levels is confounding me.
Ideas?

Usueally what I would do in this case is to first map room #1 and go up to room #2. Next I move the room #2 a bit to the right so it is not on top of room #1 and go down to room #3. Once room #3 is created, you can move room #2 back to it's original place (or leave it there if you like) and then I select room #3 and tell the mapper to move it down one level. Finally, I position room #3 right below room #1 and go up from there to room #1.

So there's no way to prevent this sort of thing from happening over and over again? The mapper seems pre-disposed to create new rooms....

How do you expect it to know that when you go up and then down, that the room you enter after the 'down' is not the one you left? If it doesn't look the same, then the Mapper should create two rooms one on top of the other, so you just drag the top room to lay next to the first one, and then you have three rooms..
If the 3rd room is above/below the 1st, just click on it and choose move from the edit menu to move it up.. (and the 2nd one up as well..)
The whole point of the mapper is to create new rooms ;)
