variable settings
 
does some know how to stop variables from switching to the text setting from the script setting on their own...I run 6.26

That setting is a display mode. Since are talking variables then I am assuming you want to create a user defined function. A thing to keep in mind is that they can only be one line and can not use any commands. I am guessing you tried to make it multiple lines and that is why it switched.

Personally, I seldom care whether my variables are text or script. It would only matter if I was editing them in the Settings Editor, but I'd guess that over 90% of my variables are done using triggers and aliases and the rest are done at the command line. As long as they hold the value I want, I'm not concerned with the editor mode.
