problem with layout |
I have a layout where it has 2 extra windows one for tells and one for channel chats. The thing is everytime i log back in with zMUD they have command lines and status lines which i do not want in it. See http://www.gamersadvance.net/dan/zmud/problem.jpg for what I mean. Is there anyway to keep that from doing it? I'm getting kinda tired of manually reseting them everytime :(
Thanks! |

right click on the window and take out the command line from the menu
then with the window focused use the save layout from the layout tab on top =)
Wich resolution are you working on? |

It does the same thing to me, 1024x768, Win2k Pro Sp4. Regardless of how many times I remove the status bar and command line on my two custom windows, and save the layouts, everytime I restart zMUD at least one of them will have both the status bar AND command line attached. I've even gone into LAYOUT - AUTO TILING - OPTIONS for each window and deselected the options for attached command line and status bars THEN tried saving the layouts again and STILL does not fix the problem.

Ok focus the window, go to view->preferences->general and remove status line from the use interface tab under the general options, then move down to the command line tab and remove the attached command line. apply and ok, then save and lock layout.

Had a similar problem when I first installed 7.04. All windows opened by the #window command were coming up with a status bar and command line.
I ended up re-installing 7.04 in a different directory (because of other problems I was having) and that solved this problem, among others.
...I know it's not a solution - this is just my experience with this problem. |

Alright, I noticed this problem too.
This has nothing to do with the layout file. Command-line, status bar settings are saved in a *.mud file for each window. Settings files for child windows are normally saved in the main zMUD directory. This depends on what you put in "Edit|Preferences" -> "Global Preferences|Directories|Settings files", in your Character window.
I guess the child window was loading up default *.mud files, which included status bars and attached command-lines. |

So does anyone know how to fix that then? I really don't want to reinstall to see if that works :(

Okay, if your child window is called 'comm', click on the window, edit your preferences and save its settings. It should result in a file called 'comm.mud' saved in your main zmud directory. Now every time the child window is opened, it automatically looks at its own settings file (windowname.mud).

Can't help without more details.
For example:
Did you check "Edit|Preferences" -> "Global Preferences|Directories|Settings files"?
Did you save a settings file with the window name as the file name?
Was that file saved in your main settings files directory?
Did you edit the preferences for that particular window?
This isn't a child-proof toy. |

Like Pega said, these settings are saved in the .MUD file for that window. Something that is overlooked a lot is that the window you want to save it's .MUD file must have focus. So, make sure that you do click on the window's title bar and then select Settings|Save.
Again, like Pega said, the .MUD file should have the same name as the window. So make sure that is the case too. After saving the settings (not layout), go to the zMUD folder and look for the windowname.mud file. It might also be inside the mudname folder. |
