Loosing zones when moving rooms to existing zone |
I've been trying to condense my 100s of zones into just a few zones and have run into a couple of problems.
The first is that when I tell the mapper to delete a zone, then select "move rooms to zone" and select an existing zone that the deleted one has exits to, I loose the deleted zone completely. As if the move never occured.
Another problem related to this is often times a large zone will not fully scroll far enough to show all the rooms in the zone. I've been able to work around this by adding new rooms and moving them close to the edge, which forces the screen to widen out enough.
Any ideas? |

Please tell us what version of zMUD you are using when ever you report a problem.
If the scroll area for the zone isn't correct, use the Zone/Refresh menu command to recompute the bounds.
My guess is that the rooms from the other zone are in the zone you moved them to but just off the edge of the screen or on a different level. The Mapper moves the rooms but maintains their X,Y,Z values, so depending on their X,Y,Z compared to the rooms in the existing zone that you move them to, you might not see them where you'd expect. |

Very sorry. I've been having the problem with ver 7.01.
The zones do show back up, but only after I close out zmud entirely, or do a search for the room I seemed to have lost and go to it in spreadsheet view. Refreshing the zone doesnt seem to help with this. |

You'll need to provide a way to reproduce this with the Sample MUD map that comes with zMUD. I'm not having any trouble moving rooms to zones in my maps here. I need an exact procedure that shows the problem so that I can reproduce it.

I just tried this and confirmed that you must do a Zone/Refresh menu command after moving rooms to an existing zone. Then you have to scroll around to find them. I had a zone with rooms normally at positions 30000,30000 and moves rooms that were at 10,10 and it took a while to zoom out and then scroll to find them, but they were definitely there. But I definitely had to do a Zone/Refresh.
