Zmud wont load (eval) |
I just got convinced to try out zmud so downloaded 7.01, but didn't get it to start loading. It gets to the point where it says the modules are loading, but then i get an error message like "has not been implemented" , but not in english. Click ok and nothing happens. The problem has been described at other places in the forum and i've tried to do what is mentioned there. Like i've checked the LicCtr service and i've used windows update.
I'm running win Xp pro.
And also as you may have guessed, i dont have any e-liscence yet or anything, just trying to use the evaluation.

Go to the page http://www.zuggsoft.com/data and follow the instructions given there. For XP you might also need to go to the Microsoft site and download/install the MDAC 2.8 software update.

Btw, if you are getting the zMUD loading splash screen, then it's NOT an eLicense problem. It's a problem with the Windows software on your computer. Once you see the zMUD splash screen, eLicense is no longer doing anything with zMUD.

Now I've followed the instructions on that page and installed the software suggested there, yet zmud still refuses to start. Still gets to the 'loading modules' window get an error window and it all halts.

Are you running as admin or user on the XP machine? |

Since you are on WinXP, did you go get the MDAC 2.8 software from the Microsoft site? Did you get any errors running these updates? Download the "MDAC Check" program from the http://www.zuggsoft.com/data page and run it to see if your MDAC installation is corrupted and to ensure that it's version 2.8.
I sure wish MS would come up with a foolproof way to update MDAC on WinXP. I'm getting tired of dealing with these kind of problems. |

I tested that earlier, but seems i missed errors, i got 2 now, version mismatch with odbcbcp.dll and sqlsrv32.dll.
Expected: version=2000.85.1022.0; (while i apparently have) 2000.85.1025.0, is that's what causing it? and if so, how do i fix it? With my newbie eyes that looks like it expects an older version than what i've got?
ps. thanks for helping =) |

It says that those files, with those versions should be included in MDAC 2.8, but either they're not or at least they dont get installed when i run it. I also noticed that it was windows update that installed the versions of the files that i have and i see no way of fixing it so i can get the versions that matches those that the mdac checker wants.

Ok. I've now manually extracted the correct file versions for mdac 2.8, since for some reason it wouldn't do it automatically even though they were in the packet. The mdac checker now recognizes that i have 2.8 installed on my computer without errors, yet i still get the same error message when i try to run zmud. It's starting to feel like this was not meant to be, since the evaluation period will have run out before i get this to work :(
