Zmud and WinXP |
Just downloaded the new zmud and installed it. I have windows xp. whenever I try to run zmud, it doesn't even start up, nothing! I did a complete uninstall of all previous versions, removed all old files from zmud and reinstalled. Same thing. Any suggestions?

Enable the LicCtrl service.

Easiest way to do it is to:
Start Menu -> Run
Type Services.msc, press enter.
Look for LicCtrl, then right-click, select properties. Under Startup type, select Automatic from the menu, then click on the Start button directly under that and finally click OK.
LicCtrl is part of the eLicense copy protection scheme that all Zuggsoft products use. Why they chose to use such a cryptic name is beyond me. |

Or, the more standard way is to open your Control Panels, then go to Administrative Tools, then select the Services tool. Then scroll down and make sure the LicCtl tool is enabled.
Don't know why this service seems to get disabled on WinXP, but I get a lot of email on this. While it might be something WinXP is doing to disable the service, be sure you are never messing with background services yourself. |
