Zmud Error |
When I start up ZMUD now, it says
Data provider or other serivice returned an E_FAIL status.
How can I fix this? |

looks like a problem with your DAC/ADO.
Make sure your database drivers are up to date. |

Did you do anything recently like install any new software or patches. What version are you running, is it registered?
Did you uninstall or remove e-lisence control. Check under settings/admin settings and make sure e-lisence is there and has a icon for zmud.
Although its a last resort, Did you try re-installing zmud? Make a backup of your zmud directory then try re-installing it.
Perhaps hold off on re-installing just yet to see if anybody else has some suggestions. |

Well...
My internet conenction was down this morning so I installed Myst, which would lead one to believe it caused the problem. But I uninstaled it after the problem was discovered.
I never removed Elicense but I'll check for it.
And it IS registered. |

The E_FAIL status message is generated when there is a damaged or misconfigured installation of MDAC/JET. It is possible that Myst partially overwrote your MDAC files. If you haven't tested them since uninstalling Myst then try that again. You may also want to search Microsoft's site for MDAC and JET. The instructions in http://www.zuggsoft.com/data/ are accurate, but I believe MS released another update since that page was written.

I installed the updated versions now, but it still gives me the same message. Any other ideas?
