Windows focus in 6.16 vs 6.62 |
I am a fanatic user of 6.16 (just because i'm lazy) but here's the question. I create a second window in 6.16 to see what herbs are needed (they are stored in a queue and displayed). Works perfectly well for me. I gave this to a 6.62 user and this is what happens.
The "herb" window opens, has focus and he cannot leave it. Very unfortunate because he's actually fighting in the "main" window.
Does anyone know where the difference for windows settings is to 6.16?
I solved the same problem in the 6.2 (I think it was) by setting the windows option to [unchecked] automatic focus...
I am using an alias to open it (there's another way but this one hangs and basically forces him to log off) #ALIAS -openwindow which does not much more the #WIN blah blah
Any ideas? I'd appreciate it, and yes, I've looked thru the help files, can't find something that gives me a clue. Might be there ... |

All your friend has to do is open the window, then change back. Once the window is open, #WINDOW name string should work without changing focus. There's no reason to close the window, is there?
A new window can be opened without losing focus using:
#WINDOW herb;#WINDOW %window |

I find focus changes to the new window when I use the mouse to copy information from that screen.
I try to remember to click the main window before heading off to the other application to paste the data I just copied but if I forget it can be a problem.
Are there any tutorials on windows management in zMUD? |

Thank you LightBulb, I'll try that and no, there's no reason to close it again (well later..but)..
I don't even try to focus, it's zMud that is giving focus to the #WINDOW herb when i activate it.
(and he's not using a mouse) |

I may add this string if its ok. What is happening is when I bringup the herb que window it gets focus yes. However it also steals focus back each time mud output appears in the main client window. Extremely annoying. [V]

That is controlled by the Window preference "Automatically bring to front window with activity". Simply turn it off.

Nod, Vijilante,
the "Automatically bring to front window with activity" fixed it in the 6.2 (or there around version, can't remember) but it's not fixing for the 6.62. This was my original question. Anyway, we'll try to go with the #WINDOW herb; #WINDOW %window and see
Thanks [:p] |

Aleytys, Lightbulb answered you question right...as you guessed.
I should have addressed my previous reply to Ceadarbon. Oh well as long as everyone figures it out I am happy. |
