Help required with Speedwalking |
I've looked back many pages in the forum, but my question isn't answered.
The basic problem is my paths don't work.
Parsing and triggers are ON, and I am sure I am using the right character (the period for speedwalks, like .2n3w).
1) Any prerecorded paths
2) New Paths don't record
3) and 'dot notation' doesn't work - i.e. I used to type .14n to get from one place to another, and now I have to push the 8 key on my keypad 14 times because it doesn't work.
In detail, it doesn't work because when I type in .50e for example, it sends "50e" (without quotes) to the MUD.
I thank you all for all your help in advance. It's annoying typing 6 fifty times [xx(] |

Check to see that you haven't disabled/deleted the Directions and/or DirectionDiag classes that are part zMuds preset defaults.

I don't think the class folders should be empty... but the folders are there. How do I revert?

Um - I just realized that commands such as #VAR and #TRIGGER when they are typed into the entry bar - the commands are actually sent to the MUD.
So it's much more global than whatever it has to do with the classes. |

Check the Special Character page in Prefs. Make sure that your Command and Movement characters are enabled and using the characters you expect.
Also, reverify that you have parsing on.
The default directions are inherited settings, so the class folders will appear empty unless you've selected Show Inherited on the settings editor's View menu. |

I haven't bothered to read the rest of the thread, but that comment always gets to me. Did you actually check whatever it was that was suggested to you and you are sure because of it that it is set properly, or did you not bother to check and just said that you are sure it is correct because that is what you believe?

I *checked* everything that was suggested to me, yes....
I wish I wouldn't have to repeat myself. I'm sure because I have seen it with my own eyes. |

If you have Parsing enabled, Command Char enabled, Command Char set to #, and zMUD ignores #commands and sends them to the MUD, then you probably need to reinstall.
Possible exception: Character Mode under Emulation prefs -- this is used to send characters to the MUD immediately instead of waiting for the ENTER key. I would still expect it to treat the # as a command char instead of sending it to the MUD, but I've never used it so I can't say for sure. |
