Bug with Zmud never starts

I've been running a registered version of zmud for a long time but now I reinstalled windows xp and I get problems. Zmud.exe never even starts a process when I try to run it. No error reports, nothing in Event Viewer. Nothing happens!

I've tried reinstalling it but alas, you cannot go that way...

Zmud 6.62
Win Xp Pro, sp1

Glad for every advice

Regards

First off, make sure the shortcut your clicking actually points to zmud.exe. I would also Reinstall zmud into another directory too. Also try to unlicense it (right click on zmud.exe and select unlicense) then relicense zmud. Let me/us know. zMUD works great on XP, so im sure its just something silly. :)

Check that the LicCtrl service is enabled and active.

That LicCtrl service is the process named 'runservice.exe'. And reinstalling should give a fresh copy of the program in the windows directory. (actually it seems you can delete it and the file will be recopied and ran/started in the Windows directory...perhaps its corrupted?)

The LicCtrl was it, I usually disable most services I dont recognize as something I need... Good most of time, bad this time!

Thanks a lot and good thinking!

Btw, it seems it keeps it in the services-list even after uninstalling Zmud. Guess it could be a good idea (if possible) to remove it and enable it on reinstall.

The LicCtrl service is part of eLicense. Since zMUD has no idea if you have other eLicense-enabled products in your computer, it cannot unistall eLicense when you unistall zMUD. There is, however, an unistall program for eLicense. I believe you can find it in the eLicense FAQ on the Support Page.
