Changing mapper mode from command line

I'm pretty sure there's a way to do this...in fact, i posted a way that i had stumbled upon quite a while back. I seem to have forgotten how though.

All i want to do is to be able to change from mapping mode to follow mode, from the command line, or with an alias. For instance, when i fight a mob, i want to switch quickly to follow mode, as i have had issues before with errors occuring due to the large amounts of spam which you have during fights. (Yay for run-on sentences!)

Thanks for any help

*edit*

Forgot to mention that i'm using v6.26
