A Query to Linux Users... |
I have a question for zMUDders who use Linux (and WINE)... I have recently installed Linux on my computer (as a dual-boot), and went looking on the net for the Windows emulator WINE. I discovered even more flavours of WINE than there are of Linux. Does anyone have any suggestions on which distribution of WINE I should use and how to run zMUD on it?
I am using Mandrake Linux v9.1.

Yeah she is the expert on Linux and WINE here. I think she is on vacation though since I haven't seen a post from her since around v6.4x.

Hmm. Try WinEX, I guess, and you would run it by something like...
wine /home/blah/zmud/zmud.exe |

It would be really cool if someone maintained a linux guide/tutorial for zMUD.

Yeah, I've been.. umm.. doing other things (new boyfriend an' all that :)
I use(d) WineX from Transgaming (DIY-build from their CVS, around mid-2002 that was..) which worked pretty well up to the versions which need MDAC, which I never managed to get installed under Wine. Others have, apparently, using crossover office and IE (which has MDAC, for some reason).
Somebody did tho, look back through the Linux posts. (Wanted to post a tutorial too, where did that get to?)
Lady C. (which version are we on now then? :) |
