#COLOR trigger failure

I have triggers to color different combat messages differently, and I can't figure out why they don't work. Output:

You skewer the paperboy's neck with one of your katars.
The paperboy punches at you but you dodge out of the way.
Hp: 654 (1419) Gp: 243 (294) Xp: 238393

#TR {You {pierce|messily stab|stab|perforate|skewer|impale|run|make a kebab} * with one of your katars.$} {#COLOR 206}

The pattern matches just fine when I test it, and if I use a #show to ouput the text myself, it colors properly, but it won't color the MUD output. I'm perplexed.

It may not be seeing the end of line correctly. try removing the $ from your trigger and see if it works.
#TR {You {pierce|messily stab|stab|perforate|skewer|impale|run|make a kebab} * with one of your katars.} {#COLOR 206}

If it wasn't seeing the end of the line correctly, the trigger would not be firing at all.

I've seen on some muds occationally, some lines of text do not immediatly terminate after the period. sometimes they have a space at the end. I know this is poor mud coding, but it does happen. Therefor ".$" may not work. That is why I suggested removing it, was just a suggestion and since the original poster has not replied, I am gussing he/she has already figured it out by now.

Ah, seems I misread his post at the end there. I took it to mean that the actual trigger was firing (the pattern matched), but it was the #COLOR command specifically that wasn't doing anything--like when #PCOL had that word-wrap bug. The trigger would fire off just dandy, but only the #PCOL command would not work.

Sorry about not responding, Talahaski was, in fact, right. Thanks Talahaski!
