The OS dictactes how the available cpu cycles are divvied out to the programs that are trying to use them, so in effect it does use 100% cycles. This is the beauty of a multitasking OS, several programs can run at once, or one program comfortably at 25%. Even at 0% utilisation, the cpu is being used, or else everything would just zap out and not work at all.

A box that overheats and burns out is obviously incorrectly cooled, since cpus can also live perfectly at 70 degrees celcius wether theyre being used or not. Servers need extra cooling, since their roles as a server has loads of disk access, and a hd running at 15000 rpms generates alot of heat. So if the servers in question were in an uncooled room, with poor circulation, the it staff were asking for trouble, regardless of the cpu load. Remember that in a box, the system temperature is higher than ambient.

Oh, and by the way, demoneyoungblood, from the ZuggSoftware side, people are treated equally here. I've seen it myself. Zugg could very easily delete any thread that badmouths zMUD, but he doesn't. The reason people who do come here to badmouth zMUD get flamed is because they come here with a bad attitude, and it is the other members of the forum (users who have bought zMUD) that flame them, not ZuggSoftware. Like I've said many times now, it is not the fact that they complain, it is how they do it (and there are tons of posts where people have complained in a calm manner about zMUD and people have replied to them in a calm manner).
