aliases, triggers, and parsing not working |
I recently tried the new beta version. After working for 2 days, I connected to my mud, and discovered my aliases and triggers were gone. I clicked alias and new to create them again, and got a blank screen. The same happened with triggers. My parsing is also not working, though it is turned on. I tried reinstalling, then switched back to 6.16, but no luck, the problem is still happening. I'd appreciate any help available for this. Thanks

Did you make a backup directory of your files?

This has happened to me three or four times.
For no reason I can think off, it seems all my settings have been wiped clear, as well as my backup for it.
It happened to most of the people in my mud who upgraded past 6.25
I was resorted to exporting all my triggers and aliases, etc into a text file, and updating once a week as a supreme backup.

Hmmm, it's very unclear to me how your backup can be affected if you really took a full backup of zMUD before upgrading to a new release.
The best way to proceed before you start the upgrade process is to close zMUD completely.
Go to your directory structure with explorer and take a full zip (or any other type like ace, tar, ... ) file of c:zmud or wherever you have installed it.
Once you have this file install the new beta / finished version.
If you experience any problems at a later stage you just rename your directory c:zmud to c:zmud_nonworkingbeta and extract the archive back to c:zmud ...
At this stage you are sure you are back as you where before the upgrade.
It's a very good practice to make this kind of backup whenever you upgrade to a new release of zMUD.

Just in case, try deleting the settings.dok file in your zMUD directory. It might not be the problem, but it never hurts to make sure it isn't
