SPAMMING TRIGGERS

I use a ^ in front of my triggers to stop spamming. This has worked well. Can someone spam me a longer message causing the trigger to start on the 2nd line of text. For example.
Someone tells you "_________________________
you are caught in a web."
Would ZMUD realize this is the 2nd line of text or would it interpret this as a new line?

It depends on your wrapping, if the Mud is wrapping text, and you can't change the wrap column, then yes, this would be possible(though unlikely) for someone to abuse your triggers like that. However, if the mud sends it as one long line, and zMud wraps it, then no, zmud would know that this was the same line.

I find it happens a lot on the mud I play... easy to do... find a social which works out to the wrapping width of the MUD, then use emote. So you do an emote of the social, then the text.

emote snickers evilly, his eyes sparkling with a hint of his malintentions. You are hungry.

Wraps internally as:

Rainchild snickers evilly, his eyes sparkling with a hint of his malintentions.
You are hungry.

And you can't really do anything to stop it.

Also.. if you have a noteboard or mail system, you can easily fall victim of a note/mail such as:

You are hungry.
You are hungry.
You are thirsty.
You are thirsty.
A cave troll leaps to attack you!!
You sure are BLEEDING!!
You have been KILLED!!

My solution to this is I don't trigger off the you are hungry/you are thirsty messages... My mud puts this info into my prompt as well, so I use my prompt to get this info, so if someone wants to mess with me, they need to put a full fake prompt into something...(including the (Hu)for hungry, or (Th) for thirsty...
