They have reproduced the problem and are working on it. I don't have any ETA from them yet.
To register to publish, use the Update/LogIn menu command, then click the New User button. However, this also doesn't work until they fix their database.
Apparently, the database software on their server got upgraded without their notice, and something in the new version turned off non-local access to their web services. I'll post as soon as I hear something from them.

Database is fixed now! Turns out, a recent upgrade of their server disables several web services without notifying them. They figured out how to turn everything back on and now it's working again. Thank for your patience on this.

I tried publishing a comment, and got "Error encountered during post: HTTP/1.1 500 internal server error". Does this error refer to something buggered up on my side or the far end? I spend waaay too much time as it is adjusting my firewall and browser settings already, if contributing requires compromising my preferences I'll just have to be a spectator then...
