ZMUD COM SERVER WARNING |
I don't know what this is but whenever I get done using ZMUD, this pop up message comes onto my screen:
quote: There are still active COM object in this application. One or more clients may have reference to these objects, so manually closing this application may cause the clients application(s) to fail.
Are you sure you want to close this application?
Yes or No (button)
Anyone have any ideas how to have a clean close on zmud?? or what is bringing this up or how to fix it?
Thank you for everything, it's always appreciated. |

Do you have any plugins open?
Its apparently a message you get, when you're using a plugin which doesnt close properly.

Is this in 6.16 or the beta version? This is a known problem in the beta version.

6.37a Beta
I did install a plugin while zmud was running and although I have installed the plugin before, I never had this problem occur. Then again, I couldn't remember what version zmud it was. It wasn't too long ago but once again, then again, I had to reformat my computer so everything seems to unclear for me.
I remembered, however, that I didn't have to unload/load the plugins to rid of the problem I have now. Hmm...could it be zmud?
Thank you for everything, it's always appreciated. |

Yes, as said above, this is a known problem with the beta version of zMUD. As such, this should be in the Beta Forum. Anyway, Zugg already has a possible fix for this in mind.

Well for one thing, wasn't keeping track of zmud versions when my mobo started to crap out on me.
The plugin problem is something I didn't have before and I have been upgrading zmud every time a new release is out.
I guess during the interim when I was getting my new mobo, reformat, re-installations, there must've been another version Zugg released.
When this problem cropped up. Wasn't sure what it was about.
Anyway, if someone can knock on Zugg's door for me and get a reset of my license because little ol' me didn't realize that there were this 3 restrictions on license releasing etc..etc..thingamagig and I never further read the that you have to release the license code...etc..etc.. you get my drift. I have sent him 2 e-mails already.
Thank you for everything, it's always appreciated. |

You'll have to wait a bit, I guess. Both him and his wife are sick at the moment.
(BTW: Posts about the beta versions belong in the beta forum)

I also just upgraded to the new beta version of Zmud as well as use a plug-in and I'm getting the same warning. When I first upgraded my screen would lock up on me. I posted about this problem and thought I had it cleared up but now I get the com warnings as well as my triggers going off double.
The triggers for screen name and password are going off double, so now when I log in it will put my screen name twice then my password twice, but I can still get in game like this. The problem I'm having now is I had to remake all my triggers and I made a trigger with the wate command to vigor one of my characters as he trains. It was going off double so I decided to delete the trigger. The trigger is now gone from my trigger list but it still goes off. It only goes off once now but I can't enable or disable the trigger.
Any ideas on what could be the problem would be of great help. |

DAMN people... CAN YOU READ??????
If you're having problems in a BETA version of zMUD, you need to ask questions in the BETA FORUM!!!!!!!
If you can't find the beta forum, or are not able to click on the application link then YOU SHOULD NOT BE RUNNING A BETA!!!! |

Simma down my friend...
This post was posted without any regards whether it was beta problem or not. When someone pointed out it was a beta problem. We found the answer and because we are lowly peons, we can't move threads around.
Will someone who has the powers that be either lock the thread or move the thread to the beta forum before AznCowboy pops a vein in his head.
Thank you for everything, it's always appreciated. |

Renshi, you have a classic corrupted settings file. I don't exactly know if the Migration Guide will help, but you should be able to turn on All Classes mode from the Settings Editor's View menu and find it that way. If you do find it, delete it (and recreate if you want to continue using it).
EDIT: AzCowboy is quite correct, though. It WAS mentioned at least three times that beta version questions should go into the Beta Forum. Not only that, but this sentiment is often repeated on the general forums almost weekly at times.
With THAT said, since I don't think this problem cropped up until the 6.3x betas, perhaps those of us in the know should make a better effort to detail which version we happen to be talking about. Not everyone is willing/able/comfortable with playing Xtreme Guinea Pig by always upgrading to the latest and "greatest" beta version. They're quite content with building up collective experience with slightly older versions so we aren't all relying on a relative few people to point out or explain various obscurities.

Well AzCowboy need to take a chill and get a grip on life. The beta forum is a closed forum and I really don't post here enought to register just to ask one question. Since the question was already asked here I posted my question here. That simple.

AzCowboy could have been a bit more diplomatic, but he's absolutely correct. I can certainly see where he's coming from:
Kjata:quote: This is a known problem in the beta version.

It seems to me the message was quite clear, but let me repeat it one more time:
1. This is a known problem with the beta version
2. Posts about beta version problems belong on the beta forum
Yes, Renshi, the beta forum is a closed forum. However, all that's needed for access is to apply -- all applications are approved. When you decided to download and install a beta version, you chose to be a beta tester, and to be a beta tester you need access to the forum on which beta testers report bugs and discuss the new features. It should only take 30 seconds or so to read the application and click on the "I Agree" button, less time than it took to register for the forums in the first place.

download the ADO/MDAC software for your computer. Also, make sure the
ZSCONVERT.EXE program is located in your zMUD directory and try running
