multi-zmuds on same comp? |
I have a WinXP home edition, and the hard drive is partitioned into 2 pieces, C: and D:.....
can I run a copy of zmud on each drive?
The reason i want to is ...my zmud6.16 has a problem..i click on triggers..aliases..or anything..and it brings up the file editor thingy, but doesn't show any files..It happened once before..remedy was something like resizing the window...but that won't work now.
can I run the Zmud beta on my other partition?
....I just had all my triggers and aliases set for Dragon's gate (Mythic) then my win98 crashed to black...(no zmud backup) so i installed zmud on my winXP..was halfway thru triggers...and now this. (heavy sigh)
Any help would be greatly appreciated,

You definitely can run two different versions, but I doubt it's THAT great of an idea. It's basically the same program, so there are some things that WILL overlap that later will cause some minor/moderate problems. I've had version 6.16 (last public version) and version 6.26a (beta version) actually mix with each other.
As far as your problems go, have you tried the Migration Guide or the Reset Windows|Settings Editor menu? It might even be a settings.dok issue, and you could try deleting that (if it's a problem of no editor appearing)

Yes, you can install multiple copies of zMUD, even on the same partition. I do this to play around with beta versions while keeping something to fall back to if I need it.
As for your problem with the settings editor, you might try deleting the settings.dok file (controls the docking layout of the settings editor) and see if that fixes the issue before you do anything drastic.

Not even the original will run after 30 days if you haven't registered. Uninstalling ZMud won't change this, and all subsequent installations will not work (because according to eLicense, you've already had your 30 days).
If you've registered, I believe you don't have to worry about getting a license for each copy you install.

I run two different versions, same partition, but I install each version of zmud in its own folder. I have like a 3.62, 4.x, 5.55, and 6.x folder, then one called BETA, all of them work fine for me.

I tried to install the beta version,
but the e-license says "your 30 days are up"
...tried in diff folders....same..
this is because i have an unlicensed
copy on my second comp where i'm trying
to install the beta...
I have purchased a license, but it only
works for one copy,so when i try to register
the beta, it says my license is allready in use.
Is there any other way to try the beta out?
Can you mebbe remove the registry entry for zmud?
where on your system is it finding out about
how long your license is?
jus curious,
I'd like to try beta, but if i remove the zmud i purchased,
I myte lose all my settings, and it still may
not let me try it....?
Thanks for any help,
Glinx

With a particular license code, you are able to license up to three copies of zMUD. It seems like you have used up your three licenses alreayd. This may happen because you upgrade Windows or format the hard drive and forget to unlicense zMUD, as well for some other reasons. A quick way to try out the beta version would be to unlicense your other zMUD first (right click on zmud.exe, select eLicense Control|Unlicense) and then try licensing the beta version. If indeed your three licenses have been used up because of something similar to what is described above, you should get both back in no longer than 90 days.
