Try deleting the DERETH.BMP and MAP.INI files and then reinstalling. Sounds like you have a bad map file. Also, make sure you are using the latest version (3.30). Old versions of AC Explorer didn't have the ML island on the map.
If this doesn't fix it, please send me a screen-shot via email so I can see exactly what you are talking about.
