mud character import |
well, until i can resolve my other problems, i decided to make a fresh installation of zmud 6.16.
the problem is, i don't have any of my characters anymore in the fresh installation. and i have well over 40 characters, and don't look forward to re-entering them all manually.
is there any way to get these mud guys back without having to enter each one manually?
i didn't install in a copy of a previous zmud directory so that i could avoid the current glitches i have from carrying over (they did when i upgraded from 6.16 to 6.26a).
thank you for any help or hope you might be able to give me.

If not using version 6.26, you characters are stored in the chardb.* files. Copy those files over to the fresh installation and you are set.
If using 6.26, the characters are stored in chardb.mdb

what about importing characters from 4.62 to 5.55?? |

To import one character at a time, copy the needed file mentioned above and open zMUD. In the character list, delete all of the character which are not the one you want.
You can't use your character database file from 6.26a in 6.16, however, when 6.26 does the conversion of the character database, it does leave around a copy of your old chardb.* files from previosu version. It is not guaranteed that they will work with 6.16, but they might since they are not in Access format.
To move characters from 4.62 to 5.55 copy the files mentioned above in the sentence that starts with "If not using version 6.26."
