cMUD to cMUD interaction

Has anyone found a work around to being able to communicate with another user of cMUD using an IP address or something similar, the idea being that the mud does not have an OOC channel for chat and me and my friend would like to be able to talk with each other using our cMUD clients rather then having to alt-tab to skype/discord.

Only input I can offer is that discord has voice chat and you could map a push to talk key to your keyboard or mouse. That way you don't have to leave CMUD, you can just press your push to talk key and speak and it'll be heard in discord.
