[1.24] themes and layouts

start with no layout file in the cmud directory.

load any .theme file from the theme download from the download site.

save layout as cMud.xly

exit

restart

cmud uses old layout.

this only seems to happen with external .theme files, and not with the ones in the actual theme drop down menu. really annoying.

I remember Zugg berating someone for overwriting a file that I think was cmud.xly. Are you sure you're doing the right thing?

yeah, i remember that too...

i tried a fresh install, just incase id messed it up, and tried saving as the layout file for that char.. still the same thing, doesnt remember.. its odd that its only on the .theme files though, and not the normal entries of the theme menu.

Tried "Edit Session"ing and changing the layout for the character too? Or is that what you meant?

Aren't themes still broken in CMud? Something related to not displaying all the visible objects correctly or something. Basically you're supposed to use no theme or whatever Zugg left as the default.

No, themes should be mostly working. Just a few visual issues still to be addressed.

But first, I don't see why you are overwriting the CMUD.XLY file. You should really never do this. Also, any changes made to CMUD.XLY will just get overwritten whenever you upgrade CMUD.

The theme information is not stored in CMUD.XLY. The theme information is stored in your CMUD.INI file. I'll check to see why it doesn't remember external themes, but I think it's just a bug in what is being saved to the INI file. It doesn't have anything to do with the CMUD.XLY file.

This. How do we get themes working? He said theme info is saved in the .INI file, I looked. I can't make use of anything in that file to change my theme to a dark one. I only got 3 themes, and they all ruin the mood of my game. Necro thread for the people that know how to do this.

From the help file on user interface:

The Select Theme command in the Theme menu allows you to load any Windows-XP *.msstyles theme file, or any *.ksdn 3rd party theme file. The *.ksdn theme files can be created and edited using the 3rd party theme editor (unsupported).
