Underscore as separator char |
Hey everyone
This is my first post here. I've been using an older version of zmud for years now. But finally decided to upgrade to cmud.
However I've run in to a strange problem trying to set it up like i have Zmud. I've attempted to switch the separator char to underscore, but for some reason, that exact character wont work.
The default semicolon, aswell as any other char I've tried, works perfectly fine. But if I set it to underscore, and type in several commands in the commandline (f.ex: e_n_n_e) it just sends it as a single string to the mud.
Can anyone help me? |

You probably set the separater character for the a child window rather than the main window. When you click on Preferences and the Preferences window opens up, make sure the title matches the name of the window you want to set preferences for--if it doesn't, you can click on the window you want to set preferences for and the Preferences window will automatically switch to that window.

Just tried again making sure I was setting options for the right window. Still no luck.
But I already suspected that wasn't my problem as I didn't have any issue changing the separator char to other symbols, *, ', ;, :, etc.
Just out of curiosity I tried to set the separator char to a regular letter like "q". In this case it doesn't work either, typing "nqs" should in that case issue "n" and then "s" to the mud. It doesn't.
So could it be that "regular" letters aren't allowed as special characters, and that underscore is somehow included in this category? (note: I've pretty much always used underscore as separator char in zmud) |

do you still have issues if you pad the underscore with spaces?
Perhaps it simply isn't noticing a wordbreak (which would explain letters as well) |

Padding the underscore with spaces, doesn't help. "n _ e" just issues that exact string to the mud.

Well... why are you changing the default separator in the first place?
Perhaps we can address that and eliminate your need for changing it.
If you happen to use the semicolon on a fairy regular bases in gameplay..
Are you aware you can turn off command line parsing
Or that the escape character '~' will cause any special characteristics of whichever character it precedes to be ignored in that instance? |

Semicolon is used for emoting in chat channels on the mud i play, which is why I changed it to something else originally in zmud.
I know about the ~escape char, and I could probably just use it, and get used to semicolon as separator char. And that is probably what I will do. The reason I posted is that, to be honest, I thought it might be a bug...
But consider the matter closed for my part. |

Did you know that in CMud if you start the line off with ` (the backtick, usually on the same key as ~) it will literalize all special characters on that line?
