How does the DRM work with cMUD?

I recall that with zMUD, if you needed to reinstall windows (or start a new wine bottle), then you were supposed to release the license first. And licenses were automatically released after like 3 months but you had 3 different opportunities to get licensed by the software.

Is a similar item in place for cMUD? I ask because about 3 weeks ago I reinstalled Linux, conveniently lost all of my mud settings, had to start a new version of Wine, and well.... then I noticed the unlicense shortcut that had been created for me. 8)

There isn't a limit on the number of times you can use your key like with zMUD. See the Licensing page of the CMUD manual for details.

Zmud 7.21 and cmud store the license number and the user name in the registry. Each time you open the application, the security wrapper phones home to see if the license exists in the system and how much trial-time is left. Other than action by Zugg to remove the license or if you reinstalled the OS, your copy will stay registered forever.

Technically, you are only allowed to install on computers you own and regularly use in the context of your own life (home, work, summer home, personal mobile devices, etc) but there is nothing looking out for illegal installations.
