Cmud Freezing

I recently upgraded to Cmud after having Zmud 7.21 installed since I got my new computer. Win7 Home Premium HP laptop, i7 processor with 8gb ram.

The problem was happening with Zmud as well and I thought maybe upgrading to Cmud would fix this issue, but I was wrong. Not mad that I bought Cmud, it's amazing and I should have done this a long time ago anyway.

Here's the problem:
My cursor disappears from the command line and I can't type. The mouse pointer will show up and I have two options: Either wait 1-3 seconds for the cursor to reappear in the command line, or reach over and click the mouse button.

During this time (1-3 seconds) I can't enter commands but the mud keeps going. Like, if I'm running a spinning timer for an ability of my character on the mud, that timer keeps going. Or, if someone enters my room, I see that happen. So, mud output keeps happening, basically.

I have Cmud open and my mud is just doing its thing. I could be just sitting and doing nothing with the session open or I could be in the middle of typing, doesn't matter the situation, it always happens at random times. The cursor in the command line disappears and I can't type. The frequency isn't during any time span either. I tried timing the intervals, to no avail, its definitely random.

Things I've done to try to fix this issue:

Most recently, I've upgraded to Cmud, as Zmud isn't supported with Win7.

Turned off my mousepad on the laptop.

Changed the speed of my cursor blink.

Tried a compatibility mode scan thingy on both Zmud and Cmud.

Changed my resolution on the laptop to multiple different settings, to no avail.

Disabled triggers and all scripts.

Reinstalled Cmud and Zmud multiple times, actually deleting everything and reinstalling.

Disabled my anti-virus (avast).

Uninstalled anti-virus just in case.

Tried a different internet connection.

Closed all startup programs using MSCONFIG.

PLEASE HELP ANYONE!

Oh, I also messed with the refresh time in Cmud preferences and set it to 0 thru 6.

Did you delete the documents directory, too? Zmud is not Win7-proper so you won't have to worry about this with ZMud, but CMud installs and works out of two folders. The first is the application/install folder, which is installed by default in Program Files. The second is in the Documents folder, via My Games/Cmud. All of the package files and layouts and other created files go here, and CMud will just reuse the old files if you didn't delete them (ergo, problems prior to reinstall may persist after reinstall).

You may wish to run all your data files through corrupted-file procedures (there's a sticky in this forum about it).

Finally, particularly if you imported stuff from ZMud, rewrite all your scripts to use newer cmud features like local variables. Zmud allowed you to get away with murder as far as your scripts went, so it's very likely zmud-era scripts just are either terribly-written or are using zmud-era strategies that are less efficient.

Think I may have fixed it, but I'm not happy how.

I changed my desktop theme to Windows 7 Classic, which disabled the whole Aero themes thing, which makes my relatively new computer look like windows 98.

All symptoms gone, but I feel like this is something that shouldn't be a problem with a client "made for windows 7"...

Nickhetrick81,

Odd fix. I am using Win 7 Home Premium as well with Aero enabled and have had no such issues. Has it always occured since you installed Cmud? Have you tried to reenable Aero to see if the symptoms come back?

Aaaand the problem is back. Same issue. Worked for a day and now the stupid freezing thing is back.

Tried disabling Desktop Window Management and that didn't work.

Are you running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit?

I would try as MattLofton suggested. Uninstall CMUD and manually remove all of the folders he mentioned in his post. Reboot. Reinstall.

Ok, so I uninstalled cmud and zmud, deleted the suggested files and reinstalled.

Still have the freezing issue listed above. Same thing.

This probably means that it is some other piece of software running on your machine.
