zmud no longer loads

I'm having issues getting the zmud to load. it was working in November, but then for no apparent reason, it stopped. It would load (initialize) on the opening splash screen the sounds and start on the Characters for about 1 second, then the screen would disappear. sometimes, I can hover over the icon in the task bar and see the screen for character selection, but when I click on it, it doesn't appear as a window so I can load a character. Using the same settings, I can load the program (and cmud) on my laptop, any suggestions as to what it could be, or actions to take?
