Two mapping problems

I'm trying CMud Pro 3.34. I lost my previous map and thought I'd see if the new mapper was better before buying it.

I'm finding it really good for creating the map, much easier than the old one, but I have a couple of problems.

1. The room descriptions often contain a first sentence to do with the time of day or light. Is there any way to stop that being recorded in the description?

2. When I try to walk around the map it will only move one room, I then have to manually move to the next room, then it will move one room etc. I am not a techie and I did play around with configuration so I could have done something without knowing it.

Can you help me please?

Oh and one other thing - is there an option to compress or tidy up the database?

Thanks

1. Check the room descriptions change in the configuration settings

2. have you made various #TAG #OK #NODIR and #NOMAP triggers? id so, reconfigure the mapper.

3. you can run the map convert utility, i think it does some compressing in the process.

Ok checking the room descriptions change has helped a lot. Thank you.

I don't yet know how to use any of the # commands you mention so I haven't done that unless by accident :)

Where will I find the map convert utility please?

You can download the map conversion app here. This will convert a zmud map (.mdb) to a cmud map (.dbm) and vice versa.

Make sure to read the help files for those commands (#HELP #NODIR) and if you need more help, dont be afraid to ask.

Thank you. I do have another question but it is on a slightly different aspect of mapping so I will make a new post.
